Inspired by ledger art imagery depicting horse round-ups, this artwork is intended to recall the textures and imagery of days gone by, but not forgotten.
The image depicted is of tales told from inside a Plains Indian tipi. This story is of battle.
During the inception of this trade, items from each culture were highly desirable by the other, and not only goods, but culture was exchanged at the rendezvous.
Those two items, ironically, were largely luxury goods: making westward expansion and trade a fashion-driven enterprise!
The romance of the old west along with the iconographic 1950’s westerns inspired a series of paintings. This western image continues to appear in the collective memory of all that is American.
