Cultures Collide – Triptych

$5,500.00

Human culture traverses the Earth, washing up on distant shores, and inevitably causing disruption.

Description

Approximately 42” x 36” Watercolor, Ink, and Acrylic on Ampersand Claybord.

Artifacts from human past continue to re-emerge, and with that these items create new understanding of what has influenced contemporary culture. I have a passion for antique glass trade beads, and I find this subject matter to be a strong metaphor in my artwork. I reflect upon how humans have traversed the globe, trading with one another from even before recorded history.  This interaction has naturally influenced innovation and culture, but also has created cultural conflict.

Each 12 x 36″ Claybord in this triptych is framed in a 2″ deep artisan-made black walnut frame, the overall measurements of each panel are 14 x 38″, thus the assembled triptych width can vary, depending on spacing between the three panels.
