Badlands Heat of the Day, 11 x 30″ Watercolor

This summer I finally made time to do something I had been wanting to do for a long time: paint en Plain Air (outdoors) at the Badlands National Park.  I left my home in Spearfish at 3:00 AM and drove 2 hours to just outside the park.  I waited until the sun was just peeking up over the horizon, and entered the Badlands.  I painted for a long time, different views of the badlands, and reflecting the different lighting and temperatures.  This one was done in the afternoon.  Amazing landscape!
