Badlands Green Mounds 11 x 11″ Watercolor

This summer was an especially green one: in the Black ills as well as in the Badlands.  We had a lot of rain in the Spring, so it made for a lush Summer.  Now, Fall is upon us, and things are turning brown, the nip is back in the morning air, and we are headed for the inevitable coming winter in the Dakotas!

This area on the Badlands loop is called Green Mounds, as there are strikingly green areas of earth that are exposed through the eroded landscape: very intriguing!
