Hanks of Beads Submerged

Hanks of Beads Submerged 11x14 WC on Clayboard 2014

“Hanks of Beads Submerged”

11 x 14” Watercolor on Clayboard

Trades beads, as a form of global currency, have circled the globe. They have been lost and they have been found.

I am drawn to trade beads as subject matter: they have much world history.  A hank of beads is a long strand of one type of bead.  Hanks are frequently broken apart and re-strung to create something new: as in life.

I’ve taken a little time away from blogging, not from painting.  I have been working on a PhD in Art Education at the University of Arizona in Tucson! Go Wildcats!
