Playing House

April 5, 2011

This is a surreal inspired portrait of my house.  It shows my home with the roof hinged up, like a doll house.  It is all surreal: life is like playing house 🙂

I love the surrealism paintings by Rene’ Magritte.  I loved to use his work as inspiration when I was teaching: it gave “permission” to think outside of the box.  Combining ideas and imagery is a big part of my art.  New and old: related and seemingly unrelated.  When considered in a new proximity, these images take on new connections and thus new meanings.  Fascinating!
